Address: | The Sress Tests Results for OpenReg-IIT 1.0B2 Server with the Use of openreg_benchmark UtilityOur goal was to create a system capable of processing from 5 to 10 million business transactions (domain name registration) every day with the budget cost of 1000-1200 USD. During the system productivity testing we used two types of hardware: morden budget server and weak hardware that you can still see out on the Net. For weak hardware we have selected we have selected Pentium III 667 Mhz PC 133, 128 Mb RAM, HDD 10 Gb 5400 rpm. For modern budget server we have selected Dual Core AMD Opteron™ 2.4 Ghz 1Mb Cache, 2 Gb RAM, HDD 250 Gb 7200rpm. During the test we have determined that the software was quite efficient. The modern budget server was able to uphold around 6 millions standard business transactions in a day even during the high volume of simultaneous requests. Note: the whole software package was installed on the one server. We have selected domain name registration transaction as an example of the standard business transaction that consists of three consecutive commands: login, check_domain, create_domain. You can view the test results by following the links: Based on the received results we can see that OpenEPP system has high potential for scalability at the expense of hardware upgrades. We have concluded, if we were to choose as a server a serious industrial dual CPU system that costs 3-4 thousands dollars with sufficient RAM and SCSI RAID (the productivity of which is twice higher in comparison with the collectors we used) it would be able to increase the system performance in 2-3 times minimum. The software package elements may be distributed across the multiple servers. The database is best located separately from EPP-server hardware. Since the system consists of the different daemons they also can be installed on the different servers. That will increase the system performance in 3-4 times more. Therefore, if the cost of the equipment is about 10-15 thousands dollars it is possible to achieve more then ten-fold productivity increase for OpenEPP platform that will amount to 50-100 million business transactions (around 300 million EPP commands) a day. Those numbers are more then enough: hardly any currently existing domain zones in the world processes such work load. | |||
